Our Directors

Thomas Gray Hardaway II, M.D.

Director


The choir director, Dr. Thomas G. Hardaway has directed and accompanied children's choirs for 38 years. His organ, choir and composition education began at age 11 while he was a chorister at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington D.C. While at the Cathedral, he also studied at the College of Church Musicians. At age 14, his first compositions were sung by the Cathedral Choir.

He studied organ in high school while living in Frankfurt, Germany. He held several positions as organist at different churches and at the Frankfurt Cathedral. Upon returning to the United States, he served as assistant organist at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Alamo Heights, where he accompanied the Texas Bach Choir and the St. Luke's Choir at the dedication of the new organ there in 1982. He majored in organ performance at the University of Texas in Austin and began teaching children's choral music during college.

 

 

 

Bethany Hill, MS

Associate Director

Bethany Hill earned her BS degree in elementary education from the University of Texas at Austin, and subsequently her MS degree in educational administration. She got her all-level music certification at Texas A&M University. Ms. Hill has taught elementary through junior college level music for 24 years, and has conducted elementary, junior high, high school, and church choirs. She has taught private voice, piano, and guitar, and is presently a general music teacher at Woodridge Elementary School in Alamo Heights where she also conducts the Woodridge Elementary Choir. She serves in the Texas Children's Choir by assisting in training and rehearsing of the singers as well as in conducting.
